Step Up

The Step Up is a lower body exercise that enhances strength, stability, and coordination. It mimics a natural movement pattern and can be modified for different fitness levels.

How to do Step Up

  1. Stand in front of a sturdy bench or platform, about knee height.
  2. Place one foot firmly on the bench, keeping your chest upright.
  3. Press through your heel and step up, lifting your body until the standing leg is fully extended.
  4. Slowly lower yourself back to the starting position with control.
  5. Repeat on the other leg, alternating for the desired number of repetitions.

Form Tips

  • Keep your torso upright; avoid leaning forward.
  • Engage your core throughout the movement.
  • Step down slowly to control the descent.
  • Use a platform height that allows for good form, usually around knee level.

Muscles Targeted

  • Primary Muscles: Quadriceps, Glutes
  • Secondary Muscles: Hamstrings, Calves, Core

The Step Up is a versatile exercise that can be performed with added weights or bodyweight for beginners.
